Bharatanatyam Workshop by Layaa Rhythmic Arts

Vancouver SaPaSa is sincerely grateful to Layaa Rhythmic Arts for their generous support in organizing this Free Bharathnatyam Workshop and for partnering with us to promote our rich cultural heritage.
Participants of this workshop will have the opportunity to be part of a group Bharathnatyam performance on September 12, 2026.
All donations received through the workshop will be donated to Vancouver SaPaSa in support of Tyagaraja Aradhana 2026.
We warmly invite everyone to join this wonderful initiative—learn Bharathnatyam, perform on stage, and support a community celebration of Saint Tyagaraja's legacy.

Our History

Vancouver Sangeetopasana Sabha (Vancouver SaPaSa) is a volunteer-run non-profit dedicated to promoting Carnatic music and dance. Our focus is on showcasing local talent from the Pacific Northwest and fostering a supportive space for emerging artists. We are committed to honoring tradition and building a vibrant, culturally connected community. In 1999, Vancouver SaPaSa launched its first Sangeeta Trimurti Aradhana — a professional concert series that provided a much-needed platform for local Carnatic artists to share their art. Soon after in 2000, we organized our first annual Tyagaraja Aradhana, creating an open and inclusive space for community members to present their talents. Every year since, this beloved event has brought together musicians, dancers, and audiences to celebrate our shared cultural heritage.Over the years, Vancouver SaPaSa has presented numerous performances by professional artists, collaborative programs with local organizations, intimate chamber music sessions and dance showcases. These events highlight the depth and diversity of South Indian classical arts and continue to strengthen the cultural fabric of our community.
